Several organizations in Central Arkansas have opened warming centers as arctic air brings dangerously cold temperatures to the state.

As of Saturday afternoon, those organizations include:

Little Rock

The city will once again use the Dunbar Community Center as a 24-hour cold-weather shelter starting at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Located at 1001 W. 16th St. in Little Rock, the community center will be open until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a news release issued by the city. Other activities and programs will be paused while the shelter is in use.

North Little Rock

The North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow St., will open at 6 a.m. Sunday.

No identification is required for entry, but no one who is intoxicated will be allowed inside, a news release from the city said Saturday.

Pets are welcome. Visitors are encouraged to bring snacks, drinks and entertainment items such as books, cards or games, the city said.

The release did not clarify when the warming center would close.

Jacksonville

First Presbyterian Church, 1208 W. Main St., will be open nightly from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. through Wednesday, if volunteers are available, a Facebook post from the center said.

Saline County

Northside Church of Christ, 917 N. East St. in Benton, will open at 6 p.m. Sunday, a news release from the county said.

The church next door to Saline Memorial Hospital will remain open until noon on Wednesday.

"The facility will operate as an alcohol-free, smoke-free, and drug-free space, with 24-hour on-side security to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests and volunteers," the release said.

Residents in need of assistance can call the Saline County Warming Center at (501) 303-0125, or they can text @scwarmv to 81010 to receive updates.
