GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Gainesville Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting early Christmas Eve.
The shooting happened shortly before 4 a.m. on Dec. 24 at an encampment near Dorsey Street, where two people were shot.
One of the victims, 33-year-old Ashley Marie Hill of Gainesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a 36-year-old man also from Gainesville, was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Thanks to witness statements and help from others at the camp, investigators quickly identified Demetrius Few, 37, of Gainesville, as the suspect. Gainesville Police officers and Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies located Few shortly after the shooting and took him into custody.
He is now facing charges of malice murder and aggravated assault. Few is currently being held at the Hall County Jail, where he awaits further charges.
