CARRBORO, N.C. (AXIOS) - Renovations on Concourse D at Charlotte Douglas International Airport are expected to begin in January 2025, an airport spokesperson tells Axios.
Concourse D handles international flights at one of the world's busiest airports. Charlotte airport officials expect 2024 to be a record-breaking year for passenger traffic.
American, Lufthansa and Volaris primarily use Concourse D. An average of 160 arriving and departing flights go through Concourse D on a daily basis.
Improvements will encompass 99,000 square feet and include fully renovated restrooms, seating with device charging capabilities, and upgraded interiors (wall finishes, ceilings, lighting, carpet and paint).
The project is expected to cost roughly $42.8 million, which Charlotte City Council approved in initial contracts in 2023.
The project is expected to be complete by mid-to-late 2026.
