BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The driver of a big rig was found dead after crashing into the California Aqueduct, the truck becoming almost completely submerged, according to the Fort Tejon Area Office of the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday when the big rig, traveling north on Interstate 5, veered to the right and into the aqueduct, officers said. The driver, whose name has not been released, was found dead when the vehicle was removed from the water.
