Former Iowa Hawkeyes safety Micah Hyde retires after 12-year NFL career

After a long, successful, and special NFL career, former Iowa Hawkeyes star safety Micah Hyde has announced that he is retiring. The former Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills safety is hanging up the cleats after a 12-year NFL career.

The announcement comes from Micah Hyde himself via an Instagram post thanking everyone from his high school to Iowa, to Green Bay, to Buffalo for being there and supporting him during his long career.

"So much love and way too many THANKS! From Fostoria to Iowa City to Green Bay to Buffalo, the goal was to leave an impact. That was one helluva dream. On to the next. MH," Hyde said announcing his retirement.

While at Iowa for four years, Micah Hyde appeared in 51 games for the Hawkeyes. Beginning his sophomore year, he began receiving considerable playing time. In his time with Iowa, Micah Hyde tallied 155 tackles, eight interceptions, 15 pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Micah Hyde in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft with the No. 159 overall pick. Hyde would go on to spend four seasons with Green Bay before joining the Buffalo Bills in 2017, where he would spend the final eight years of his career.

He registered 644 total tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 24 interceptions, 66 pass deflections, and one touchdown during his 12-year NFL career.
