Country music singer Jamey Johnson arrested in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Country music singer Jamey Johnson was arrested in Williamson County on Sunday for speeding and for possession of drugs.

According to arresting documents obtained by News 2, a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) pulled Johnson over on Interstate 65 North in Williamson County shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday.

The trooper reported the vehicle, which he confirmed was being driven by Johnson, was traveling at a speed of 87 miles per hour on a 70 mile-per-hour stretch of the roadway.

The trooper also reported smelling an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle -- Johnson allegedly said he had "been around marijuana," and confirmed that's what the trooper could be smelling. During a search of the vehicle, the trooper found "several" bags containing marijuana and more than 10 pre-rolled joints.

Johnson's bail was set at $5,000 for the possession charge.
