Marquette basketball March Madness projections, bracketology

The Marquette men's basketball team has earned No. 2 seedings in the last two NCAA Tournaments.

Each Monday, the Journal Sentinel will take a look at Marquette's previous week and assess how its résumé has changed and stacks up to the competition.

Local bracketologist Cracked Sidewalks: 3-seed in West Region vs. High Point: Cleveland (as of Jan. 23)

Jan. 21 at Seton Hall: Kam Jones busted out of his Big East shooting slump, and the Golden Eagles put on a spirited defensive performance in an easy, 76-59 victory at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Jan. 24 vs. Villanova: Stevie Mitchell tied his career high with 21 points as Marquette improved to 8-0 vs. Villanova under Shaka Smart with an 87-74 victory at Fiserv Forum.

Marquette at Butler, Tuesday: The Golden Eagles will look for a season sweep of Butler after winning in the teams' Big East opener on Dec. 18.

Marquette vs. Connecticut, Saturday: National Marquette Day. Two-time defending national champions coming to Fiserv Forum. This is one of MU's most highly anticipated games of the season.
