The Saginaw Spirit jumped out to a five-goal lead and rolled to a 9-3 win in front of 3,283 at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Mich.

The Sting (7-11-1-3) have lost five straight games and nine of 10. They went 1-7-0-0 on the road swing.

They'll be home Sunday to face the Ontario Hockey League-leading Kitchener Rangers at 2:05 p.m. at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sting did all their scoring in a span of 4:05 early in the second period, cutting their 5-0 deficit to 5-3.

Beckham Edwards's two goals sandwiched one by Mitch Young.

Edwards leads the Sting and all OHL rookies with nine goals. He has three goals in two games since winning gold with Canada White at the U17 World Challenge in Sarnia.

Edwards's second goal came with a man advantage. The Sting's OHL-worst power play was 1-for-12, dropping its success rate to 10.7 per cent.
