A two-alarm fire at a wood-framed single-family home in Algiers was contained to the home overnight, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
Firefighters first arrived at the 2800 block of Eton Street at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a call about a fire involving a residential building. No injuries were reported and the owner said the build was unoccupied and being used for storage, firefighters said.
The fire was heavy at the single-story home with both strong winds and combustibles stored in and around the home contributing to its strength, according to NOFD.
A second alarm was requested at about 10:35 p.m.
Despite the winds and the presence of fuel in the house, firefighters contained the fire to the one home, according to the NOFD.
Eighteen NOFD units and 47 firefighters extinguished the fire by 12:19 a.m. Thursday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
