The filmmaker has one of the most imitated aesthetics on earth. Here's what she can't live without.
As a director, Sofia Coppola is known as much for her cult films -- from Lost in Translation to Priscilla and Marie Antoinette -- as she is for her visual confidence and personal sense of chic. Her movie sets and costumes are as much eye candy as they are integral elements of her films. And on the side, she does everything from designing makeup to consulting with her father, Francis Ford Coppola, on their family resort destinations. It came as no surprise, then, that Coppola was recently announced as the artistic director of next summer's Bal d'Été at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. The July 6, 2025, event will kick off Paris's fall/winter 2025 Haute Couture week and mark the centenary of the 1925 Decorative Arts exhibition.
With her signature bright lip and minimalist fashion style, Coppola has one of the most imitated aesthetics on earth. It might be impossible to break it down in eight items, but that won't stop us from trying.
