The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will consider adding two majors and dropping another at its quarterly meeting on Tuesday.
The board will also get briefings on numerous financial matters including giving and student debt.
The meeting is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. in 2100 Torgersen Hall, 620 Drillfield Drive on the Blacksburg campus. Committee meetings are set for Monday.
Resolutions will be considered to approve two new graduate degrees: a master of science in water resources and a master of arts in education, reading, and literacy. Both will fill growing identified needs in those fields, according to board documentation.
The board will also consider the discontinuance of the bachelor of science is systems biology in the College of Science due to low enrollment.
Regarding the fiscal briefings, the school has received $226 million in donations during the 2024 fiscal year, according to board documentation. Of that total, 245 donors gave 80%, according to the documentation.

Also, on student money issues, the documentation shows that 45% of the Virginia Tech's 2024 graduating class had an average of $32,462 in tuition debt.
That's almost $6,000 more than a peer group of land grant schools, according to the documentation.
Monday's information session and Tuesday afternoon's full meeting of the board will be livestreamed. To view either meeting, go to bov.vt.edu.

Those attending the meeting in person will need to present a Virginia Tech Hokie Passport or government-issued photo ID and all bags will be searched, according to a university news release.
