YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) -- On Tuesday, Nov. 19, a massive water main break occurred off Burnsville School Road in Yancey County at around 9:30 a.m.
Shaun Truax lives in Burnsville, and he was one of the witnesses who shared photos and videos with News 13 that showed the major water line break. Truax described what he saw.
"I was heading west into Burnsville from the Micaville area and suddenly traffic was stopped. There was a geyser of water. It looked like Old Faithful," Truax said.

The water main break created heavy traffic, causing drivers to be at a standstill as the water flooded the roads.
Truax says he accredits city officials for their quick response.
"They were great getting traffic through. They cut it down to one lane and cars were still able to go by. There was a lot of traffic coming and going but they still managed to get everybody through the intersection," he said.
Officials addressed and resolved the issue, according to Truax.
