The driver in a rollover wreck onto an Orangevale lawn that injured three children and left an adult in critical condition Wednesday night is under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said.
The unidentified driver was not hurt in the 8:49 p.m. wreck the 6100 block of Chestnut Avenue, but Metro Fire crews had to cut the driver and passengers free of the wreckage and rush them to area hospitals.
The children, ages unknown, each had minor to moderate injuries. The adult passenger was critically injured, said Metro Fire Capt. Parker Wilbourn, a district spokesman.
Photos from Metro Fire crews at the scene show how close the driver came to causing further injury. The car came to rest on its side against a tree, feet from a home.
