Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of four people at burning Lancaster home

Homicide detectives arrested a 19-year-old suspect Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of four people at a Lancaster home over the weekend.

Miguel Sandoval of Lancaster was taken into custody about 5 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of four counts of murder, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials and booking records.

The violence unfolded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 44500 block of North Tabler Avenue, which was reportedly on fire when first responders arrived on scene.

Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified by Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner officials as Janvi Maquindang, 21; Christine Aca-Ac, 25; and and Edwin Garcia, 24.

A fourth victim, identified by sheriff's officials as Matthew Montebello, was taken to a hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His age was not available Thursday.

Maquindang died from a gunshot wound to the head, while Aca-Ac and Garcia died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to medical examiner records. An official cause of death for Montebello was yet to be listed.

A 16-year-old girl survived the shooting by hiding and calling 911, ABC 7 reported.

"Investigators believe this was an isolated incident," a sheriff's department statement said. "The case is still being actively investigated and no further details about the case will be shared in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation."

No details regarding a motive were available. The investigation was being spearheaded by gang detectives.

Bail for Sandoval was set at $8 million pending an initial court appearance, scheduled Monday in the Antelope Valley branch of Los Angeles County Superior Court, records show.
