CoreStack enters federal market through acquisition

CoreStack, a provider of cloud governance software for large organizations, has acquired the government services company Karthik Consulting to establish a new footing in the federal market.

Founded in 2008, KC provides cloud security and compliance offerings to federal agencies as part of a larger IT systems integration portfolio. CoreStack said Wednesday it is looking to lean on KC's software factory in support of secure development pipelines and the creation of artificial intelligence-based solutions.

A total of 125 KC employees are poised to join CoreStack through the transaction, of which no other terms were disclosed. Prior to this move, substantially all of CoreStack's customers were in the financial services and health care verticals.

"By combining Karthik Consulting's deep-rooted experience in federal IT and security systems with CoreStack's innovative cloud governance platform, we are advantageously positioned to redefine how federal agencies manage and secure their cloud environments," CoreStack's chief executive Ezhilarasan Natarajan said in a release.

KC has recorded $22.2 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months, according to USASpending.gov. The General Services Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Air Force, Coast Guard and Army represent KC's five largest customers.

CoreStack is also aiming to further expand its profile as a provider of cloud-native application protection platforms in the public sector market, the company said.
