SHERRY ELAINE TOPHAM HEAD

Sherry Elaine Topham Head, devoted wife and mother, beloved grandmother, and friend to many, was carried away to her eternal home in the early morning hours of Monday, December 30, 2024, at her home surrounded in love.

Sherry was born in Morgan City on May 28, 1941, the youngest of three children and only daughter born to Royal and Helen Topham. She married the love of her life, Leroy Head, on January 1, 1958. They were blessed with three children, Dori, Brian, and Glynn. While she was raising her three children, Sherry completed her education at Young Memorial. She then completed three years of training at Tomlinson College Bible Training Institute in Cleveland, Tennessee. Affectionately known as the Lady Preacher, Sherry was a licensed Evangelist and certified Sunday School Teacher who was known for coining her catch-phrase, "Get into the Word and let the Word get into you." She was instrumental in leading many lives to the Lord.

Her beautiful memory will forever live on in the hearts of her husband of nearly 67 years, Leroy W. Head; their three children, Dori H. Istre and her husband John, Rev. Brian L. Head and his wife Anna, and A. Glynn Head and his wife Monica; four grandchildren, Kaci I. Brown, Kayla I. Perry and her husband Ricky. Braxton L. Head and his wife Torri, and Karlyn H. Guilbeau and her husband Stephen; seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Justin, Allie, Bryson, Wesley, Sadie Grace, and Charlotte Rose; her sister-in-law, Betty Jean Johnson Topham; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Royal I. Topham Sr. and Helen King Topham; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry Charles Topham Sr. and Jade Toups Topham; her brother, Royal I. Topham Jr.; her in-laws, James Wesley Head and Ruby Chevallier Head; and her granddaughter, Brittani Nicole Head.

In keeping with her wishes, private services will be held with her family and church family at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice, Franklin, LA as well as to her wonderful friend, Kaye Gussman, RN for the loving and compassionate care provided.
